INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
Toast of Tampa was thrilled to represent Region 9 at the International Competition in Louisville in November 2023. It was great to be on the International stage again after a four-year hiatus due to the Pandemic. Our theme for the week was Mary Poppins, and we enjoyed singing the wonderful arrangements that were written for us by Clay Hine and Gary Lewis. Throughout the week we sang songs from the original Mary Poppins movie, Mary Poppins Returns, and from the Broadway show.
We lit up the stage during our finals package with a little help from Kyle Fletcher, a friend of Jamee Billings a la “For the Love” quartet. Kyle helped us create a lighted costume that he was able to control from the audience. It was great fun for us, and the audience seemed to love it, too! We had lots to celebrate in Louisville. Our quartets represented us well, and we were blown away by the performances of Sirens, Dynasty, Duly Noted, and For the Love.
We were also happy to celebrate Jody Little’s 50th anniversary with Sweet Adelines. Jody “grew up” in Sweet Adelines, singing with her mother and sister. She sang in quartets for many years, winning seven Regional Championships.
